CALL NUMBER SEARCH
Most
CALVIN records contain call numbers using Library of Congress Classification
system. Records for microfilm, audiovisual
materials, and some monographic series use a classification system unique
to the Presbyterian Historical Society. Records
for archival holdings also use a consecutive record group numbering system
unique to the Presbyterian Historical Society.
The
Call Number Search is useful when you want
to browse a certain part of the collection.
Example: You are looking at two books about sacraments,
and you notice that they have a portion of the call number in common:
BX9189; you decide to see what else you can find in this part of the
collection.
In
the Call Number search box, enter:
bx9189
In
this case, the results are additional items related to sacraments.
The
Call Number Search can also help locate a
specific type of item.
Example: You want to locate records with the word “sermons”
in the title that are available on microfilm.
In
the Title search box, enter: sermons
In
the Call Number search box, enter:
mf
The
results are a list of materials that are available on microfilm with the word
sermons in the title
