Old Pine Street Church: 250th Anniversary Concert and Lecture Series

To celebrate its 250th anniversary, Old Pine Street Church, known during colonial times as “The Church of the Patriots,” has embarked on a distinguished speaker series. Their next presentation, entitled "Faith & War: American Presbyterians and the War for Independence," will take place on Sunday, November 5th at 1 p.m. Dr. William Harrison Taylor of Alabama State University will explore the impact Presbyterians had on the Revolutionary War and how the war shaped the future of the church. PHS's Director of Programs & Services, Nancy Taylor, will introduce Dr. Taylor.

Dr. Taylor's new book, Unity in Christ and Country: American Presbyterians in the Revolutionary Era, 1758-1801, examines the early interdenominational pursuits of the American Presbyterian Church and the church’s fostering of New World values. From 3:00pm to 5:00pm, Dr. Taylor will be available to sign his book at the nearby Museum of the American Revolution, located at 101 S 3rd Street.
