Gifts of Personal Papers

Many of the historic documents in our holdings have been donated by individuals and families who lived the history in those records, or by their descendants. If you would like to donate historic materials, please write to us with a description of the material. We will then work with you to determine the most appropriate place for your items and to develop a donation agreement.

Materials we accept

The types and formats of personal and family papers that we accept include:

  • correspondence
  • travel journals
  • pastoral registers
  • diaries
  • photographs
  • slides
  • motion pictures
  • audio recordings

How to donate materials

To discuss donating historic materials, email Nancy Taylor, Director of Programs and Services, with a description of the materials, or call (215) 627-1852.

The society cannot provide a monetary appraisal of your donation. We encourage you to discuss possible tax implications with your accountant or attorney.
