Dr. Frederick J. Heuser deeply understands how history impacts our lives now, and often reminds us that the Presbyterian Historical Society "preserves the past for the future." Fred became Executive Director of the Presbyterian Historical Society in 1990 after joining PHS as its first professionally-trained archivist in 1982. After more than 30 years of service, Fred announced his retirement in February 2013.

We invite you to celebrate the retirement of our longtime Executive Director by making a contribution to the Heuser Fund. Your gift will support programs and services at PHS designed to serve congregations, Presbyterians, scholars, researchers, and so many others, and will allow PHS to care for hundreds of thousands of books, manuscripts, and official records from churches across the United States.

During his over 30 years at PHS, Fred made a tremendous impact on the Society's direction and ministry. The Society began a records management program to serve national offices of the church and made significant improvements to the archival program under his leadership. Services for congregations, presbyteries, and synods greatly expanded. Most recently, PHS launched a digital records preservation program and communications strategies to connect more widely with congregations and mid-councils across the country.

Please honor Fred's legacy and continue to help PHS protect the irreplaceable pieces of our shared Presbyterian heritage. Make a gift to the Heuser Fund today. Use the Donate Now button to give online, or mail a check in care of the PHS Development Office, 425 Lombard Street, Philadelphia, PA 19147.
