Statesville, Fourth Creek/First Presbyterian Church
The Fourth Creek Meeting House in Statesville, North Carolina, was established around 1750. The first church on the present site was completed by 1756. The Rev. James Hall was the first regular minister. According to Hall’s Index of American Presbyterian Congregations, the Fourth Creek Presbyterian Church in Statesville, North Carolina, changed names to First Presbyterian Church, Statesville, in 1875.
The society holds records of the Fourth Creek/First Presbyterian Church which are of interest to genealogists. However, most of the records date from around 1830 on. We have learned from the church that most of the records prior to 1830 have been lost. We hold the following records on microfilm:
