Biographical Note / Administrative History

Administrative History

n 1987 the Presbyterian Historical Society solicited stories depicting "women of faith" as a program of the Bicentennial of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). The stories were solicited through a form published in Concern Magazine, in which women were asked to describe "women who have touched your life and influenced your journey of faith." The stories were subsequently reviewed by the Presbyterian Women's office and Horizons (successor to Concern), and selections were published in the 1991 book, Rooted in Faith.

Collection Overview

Record Group 281 contains all the entries submitted by women from 1987 to 1988. It also includes some longer stories submitted directly to the Presbyterian Women's office a year or so later. Also included are some other compilations of women's stories.
