Biographical Note / Administrative History
Frances Pryor Irwin was appointed by the Board of Foreign Missions to the Syria Mission in 1921 and taught at the American School for Girls in Beirut, Syria. In 1924, she assumed the principalship for the newly formed American Junior College for Women and remained in that position until her resignation from missionary service in 1937.

Includes miscellaneous photographs that reflect Irwin's missionary service in Syria. Most photos are dated to correlate with her outgoing correspondence and are arranged chronologically by month and year.

Included with the finding aid in folder 1 of box 1 are several pages of attempts to catalog Irwin's letters by subject. Though these calendars were included, their accuracy should not be assumed.
