Biographical Note / Administrative History
James M'Chord was born in Baltimore, the son of John and Isabella Caldwell M'Chord. The family moved to Kentucky in 1790. M'Chord married Mary Logan of Fayette County, KY in 1809. Until 1819 they lived in Lexington, where M'Chord was a pastor. In 1819 he moved to Paris, KY to take charge of the Bourbon Academy.
Collection Overview
This collection consists of a letter book M'Chord kept between 1809 and 1820. The letters are all addressed to Samuel Crothers, a pastor in Greenfield, OH. Also included is a bound transcript of the letters, done by John Dabney Shane.
