Biographical Note / Administrative History

Biographical Note

Lucy Starling was born on August 17, 1879 in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. Following her graduation from Hopkinsville High School, she attended Western College in Oxford, Ohio for two years. She then served as State Superintendent of Christian Endeavor Prison Work for three years. She applied to the Board of Foreign Missions, and was appointed to the North Siam Mission (frequently referred to as the North Laos Mission) in 1909.

Lucy Starling served from 1909 until 1911 in Chiengmai, and from 1912-22 in Nan. From 1922 until 1941 she served in Lampang. She received her B.S. from Teacher's College of Columbia University in 1936. Her mission work was educational and evangelical in nature.

Collection Overview

This collection consists of correspondence with Clifford Drury concerning the manuscript of "Dawn Over Temple Roofs," a scrapbook album, manuscripts, and photographs. Series 3, Publications, consists of manuscripts, pamphlets, and articles written by Lucy Starling.Also included is a calendar which may have belonged to Lucy Starling; however the provenance of this item in uncertain.
