Biographical Note / Administrative History
Anna Young Thompson was appointed a missionary to Egypt in 1871. Until her retirement in 1931, she worked with the young girls and women of that country. She worked tirelessly organizing Sabbath Schools, teaching and making house visitations. She was instrumental in developing the first Christian Endeavor Society in Egypt and was responsible for organizing the World Christian Temperance Union, which she served for several years as one of its national presidents.
